This calming 15-acre garden features perennial and annual flowers, mature trees, shrubs, flowing lawns and a water wise Xeriscape demonstration garden and grasslands meadow. Picnic areas and spectacular views of the Kettle Valley Railroad's Trout Creek Canyon Trestle and Okanagan Lake. The Friends of the Gardens non-profit
society suggests a $3 donation per person to help maintain and improve
the gardens. Open from 8am to sunset most days of the year, unless the road is unsafe due to snowfall or freezing rain.
Located on the east side of Okanagan Lake between Penticton and Kelowna is Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park. Numerous activities are offered here throughout the year, including ice fishing and snow shoeing in winter, and hiking, swimming, and fishing in the summer. Campsites are available here as well.
This 98 ha park is extremely popular throughout the year and especially so in summer due to it's location on the western side of Lake Okanagan. Visitors can sunbathe, swim, boat, water-ski and windsurf, and there are two campgrounds in the park but campers should be aware that the park gets very busy during tourist season.
Located near Summerland, this park is popular for its fishing, hiking, canoeing and kayaking. During the winter, the park attracts ice fishing and skating. The park has only five campsites and facilities are limited to pit toilets and pinic tables. Eneas Lakes Provincial Park is located only four kilometers from this park.
Open year-round, Sun-Oka Beach Provincial Park boasts an impressive sandy beach that stretches over 0.5 km (0.3 mi). There is a large day-use and picnic area that features a concession stand in the summer. There is a playground onsite as well as paddleboats. Popular activities include swimming, boating and jet-skiing.
